• Do not introduce photo ID as a legal requirement to vote
The introduction of photo ID in order to vote may be seen by some as a positive move to deter fraud and will not be seen as a problem to the more privileged and affluent members of our society who can afford to drive and go on foreign holidays. However, it may well be a problem for many of the more vulnerable members of society. The elderly, disabled, young people/students and financially disadvantaged members of society often do not have these forms of ID and cannot afford them/renew them. This would mean that a large percentage of our population would have their democratic right to vote taken away from them. Why should we have to pay the government for a document in order to vote? Is it a money making scheme, or maybe a way to ensure that only a certain demographic have the ability to vote? Please join me by signing this petition to make voting accessible for all.

  • Ban Fire & Rehire in Doncaster
Fire & Rehire is a tool to slash terms and conditions of contracted workers and has been used for decades. But there seems to be a growing trend and this is worrying. No company who have reaped misery and poverty on its employees are deserving of any remuneration from the public purse.

  • UK researchers decry ‘shameful’ cuts to international support fund
The scientific research carried out by the researches benefits not only developing parts of the world, but can have commercial applications here in the UK too. For example : Simon McQueen-Mason, from the University of York, is nearing the end of an ODA-funded project using novel enzymes to reduce industrial waste from sugar mills in India. He fears that all the understanding and knowledge they have gained to date will fail to come to fruition if their funding is pulled at this stage. “It’s devastating because the results so far are really promising,” he says. McQueen-Mason and his team had high hopes that their work would be able to significantly reduce waste streams from one of India’s major and highly polluting industries, whilst also increasing profitability and creating new jobs. And it won’t just be India that loses out. “The systems we have developed would have been incredibly valuable for the UK with potential for making aviation biofuels, bioplastics, organic acids used in industry and high quality re-cycled textiles,” he says, adding that the industrial partners involved in his project that had invested significant amounts of their own money in the work are livid. “At least one of the companies I work with has already written to Innovate UK to ask for their money back,” says McQueen-Mason.

  • do not cut aid to Yemen
Britain has drastically cut its aid to Yemen, which has been devastated by conflict for six years, saying the pandemic created "a difficult financial context for us all". The UK government said it would provide "at least" £87m ($120m) this year, down from £164m pledged last year. Aid officials have condemned the cut. The UN chief, António Guterres, said reducing aid was a "death sentence".

  • Covid PPE contract public enquiry
As more and more stories get released such as the latest with Matt Hancock the health secretary gave his local landlord a £30 million pound contract to make ppe equipment with no such experience in the field. We cannot have government ministers and civil servants giving out these contracts at a time when everything covid is treated as a blank cheque, I strongly suspect it’s not only illegal to give these contracts out to individuals but you can also bet there is a 360 degree arrangement in place. People need to be held to account

  • Additional holiday to thank convenience store workers
During this pandemic convenience store workers have been at the heart of the community from before the sun rises until long after everyone is in bed to ensure that everyone in the community is not just fed but able to utilise basic services such as bill payments and cash withdrawals. They are often the invisible servants of the community who are always there to set you on your way in the morning or be there if your missing an item for your evening leisure time. You may run out of gas at 9pm but you'll be warm through the night as they can top up your meter. It's not just convenience store workers, the Act should cover all defined key workers, those who keep transport running, drivers, mechanics, engineers, communications, NHS workers, refuse collectors, post office workers, delivery drivers, those at electric and water companies, dentists any role defined as a key worker (I'm writing this up fast whilst looking after a newborn so forgive me for not mentioning other key workers, you are all hero's) one extra days holiday entitlement every year is a very small way to say thank you to all the courageous souls on the front line. Thanks for supporting, God bless you.

  • Launch an independent inquiry into the UKs response to Covid
In the 6 months since Covid cases have soared, our NHS is on it’s Knees and 50,000 more people have died. The UK now has one of the highest death rates in the world, higher even than Trumps America. This global pandemic is far from over. New variants are being discovered around the world, so understanding the transmission of this virus is paramount. Boris Johnsons government have failed time and again to halt the spread of Covid, this week we have seen the highest number of deaths recorded in 1 day. In Prime Minister’s questions, (20/01/21) Ed Davy MP again asked the PM for an enquiry but was refused. To learn the lessons of what’s gone so devastatingly wrong under the leadership of Boris Johnson, we ask for the launch an independent enquiry this Spring 2021.

  • Inquiry into Government Contracts
Billions of pounds of taxpayers' money have been wasted by giving contracts to individuals with ties to the Conservative Party, sometimes companies with no experience of that product, given preference over recognised suppliers and not subjected to competetive tendering. This is, at best, financial incompetence and at worst, blatant fraud.

  • Ban Trump from Scotland
There is much evidence to support the immoral character of Donald Trump Snr. This petition is in reaction to recent events, Wed 6th January 2021, when Trump supporters stormed their Capitol in terrorist fashion, which resulted in 5 deaths so far. Among the rioters were Trumps Far Right, White Supremacist, Fascist followers, who were incited and encouraged to carry out their attack by Trump and many of his political allies. We should not house a man who stands for, supports, compliments and encourages those whose far right beliefs and actions are unlawful.
