• Animal Welfare Team Brighton and Hove
Brighton and Hove receives an invaluable service from this department. Any reduction in its' services will lead to pain and misery for both animals and humans in the community. Charities such as the RSPCA cannot manage this workload alone!

  • Merseyside will not implement any further cuts
I want Merseyside to make a stand against Goverment cuts disguised as Austerity. Millions of pounds have been slashed from council budgets by central government, thousands of jobs have been lost and services affected. Local government in the North West has been hit harder by spending cuts than any other region in England. The government points out that we will still get far more funding cuts over the next 5years. So far it's estimated North West councils have had their budgets reduced by a third since the general election.Merseyside as a City Region has seen cuts over £1billion. We cannot accept 'Cuts' as a means to progress.

  • #noTTIP in Sheffield
TTIP is a free trade agreement between the US and EU. With the difference in laws in these countries, this deal threatens multiple areas of our lives. Our online safety, our food safety (The US use chlorine to preserve chicken), our cosmetics, our right to protest, the building blocks of democracy, our environment and our free health services. For more information pop into a local LUSH store between the 18th September and the 2nd October or watch the video below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cVs0aGCGEAk

  • time to reform parking enforcement and introduce technology to deliver service
Civil Parking Enforcement has at its heart legal principles of fairness, justice and public service. On all three counts , local councils and central government including the department of transport have repeatedly failed to provide clear directions to the 'operation' of the system within the meaning and spirit of the law. There is a clear lack of imagination and the wrong uses of technology. No road user sets-out to break the law , cause congestion or invite upon themselves costs they have no budget for. Who wants to go for a £40 shop and pay a £60 parking fine ? Now is the time to reform the parking 'regime' for economic gains , user satisfaction , improved revenues based on positive actions , new jobs and the latest technologies .

  • GIVE PENSIONERS FREE BOILERS
Free boilers are given to people on benefits but not to pensioners on low incomes who do not receive benefits. Every year many pensioners die from the effects of cold and others suffer needlessly as they shiver in their own homes. They should automatically qualify for this scheme. Benefit payments are to be capped at £500 per week for couples and £350 per week for single people. This should be the level of income to qualify pensioners for free boilers - £26000 and £18200 respectively. A new combi gas boiler could tansform, and even prolong, the lives of many people who have worked all their lives and now find themselves with the dilemma of "eat or heat".

  • Re-Allow Microwave ovens in British schools for the use of students.
As you might know the policy of having microwaves in British schools has been changed. Therefore the microwaves has been removed. The new rule is that teacher will microwave the food for the students and then check the temperature to make sure if it is safe to eat. Even the students of age 15 are not allowed. This might sound like a dumb petition but the students really need it. Imagine you going to office with cold food and then are forced to eat it cold due to being not allowed to use a simple microwave oven. The students want actions to be taken immediately. Please sign this petition and help the students in need.

  • free precriptions, education and health care
The sick and infirm are going without care because they can't afford it due to the fact that, during their WORKING lives, they saved for their retirement. These same people are paying through the nose for their medication whilst trying to exist off the meagre pension the government gives them, currently the third worst pension in the EEU. Students worry about hanging a millstone around their necks in the form of student loans. There are thousands of overseas students attending UK universities, why not charge them a little more to subsidise our students. They are our future and should be fully supported.

  • Add green waste to recycling collections in Brighton
Brighton now ranks 302nd out of 326 councils for its recycling record. Recent changes even reduced the number of items that can be recycled! Brighton residents pay handsomely for their council tax with the right systems in place green waste could be composted commercially and may even bring in some revenue. Other councils around the country can do it, why can't ours

  • Save the services of the Citizens Advice
The Citizens Advice is a charity which many people believe to be a arm of the city council which it isn't. Due to this not many people donate to the Citizens Advice. With each Citizens Advice Bureau being their own Charity and having their own budget for many years they have received funding from their local Council, with the budget cuts that the Local councils are now having to deal with, they are not able to support the Citizens Advice bureaux in their local areas. If the Citizens Advice Bureau closes in your local area and you need advice on what they currently advice many people on will their be a free service you can turn too?
