• No new road through Pendoylan conservation village
The Ely Valley is a very important SSSI serving the Vale and Cardiff. There is a wealth of protected plants, animals and birds here. There are many ancient woodlands on the route of the proposed new road. All of these could be lost for ever if the road is approved. It is crucial that our Council works with adjoining councils to reduce traffic travelling around the Vale and Cardiff. There is already a parallel road serving this route just two miles away which should be improved to resolve traffic issues. We can’t just keep building roads at the expense of our green fields. 72,000 cars drive in to Cardiff daily and a new road will attract even more cars to this area, creating even more congestion where the new road joins the M4 and A48. We believe that sustainable alternatives should be sought to reduce car dependency. The levels of air pollution in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan are now causing more deaths than alcohol or obesity with a rising figure of over 225 deaths a year. Please join us in valuing our countryside and all that it offers for future generations.

  • Reinstate Our Lifeline Weekend Ferry Service
Reducing this service has changed our way of life due to only one ferry running and limited spaces, leaving residents left feeling trapped and isolated at the weekend. The only time most people can get off the island is at the weekend due to working, bairns at school, etc so it’s the busiest time of the week, yet this is when ferries are reduced. It’s taken away the freedom to take family to events out of the isle with so many residents involved in sports, music, etc, going shopping and visiting friends and family.

  • Stop British Airways from using plastic cups and cutlery on their flights
BA carried 45.2 million passengers in 2017 alone ! Most of these would have had drink on their flight. That is 45 million cups in a year, possibly more, and I don't even know how to start calculating the amount of plastic waste that comes from on board meals and flight bags. This unnecessary and senseless plastic addiction must end, especially knowing that there are alternatives that are fully compostable ( much better than the biodegradable ones). We have all been offered drinks on board, just one fast drink and the cup stays around for centuries. Yes, they can argue they recycle them, but there is already enough plastic in the world and we need to stop adding more in it. This would be a great start ! #choosetorefuse #plasticfreedom Image kindly produced by Tom Gallant

  • Safe pedestrian crossing needed at Granville Road and Summer's Lane junction
Currently there is no pedestrian crossing at this fast and busy junction and people are putting themselves in danger by dashing across the road. Many of these pedestrians are school pupils of The Compton School and Wren Academy and users of Finchley Memorial Hospital as well as many mothers with young children. The lack of crossing also means people are standing in a highly polluted area for long periods of time. Barnet Council and TFL are prioritising 'traffic flow' over the safety of people.

  • Save our Northamptonshire buses
The cancellation of bus routes will leave many without any public transport to do the very basics like visiting a doctor, getting to school, or picking up groceries. Without this bus service the most vulnerable in our society will face social isolation, difficulty accessing work, and expensive taxi fares. I have spoken to a woman who uses a bus to visit her 90 year old father. She doesn't know how he'll manage if she can't visit him to help with his meals and cleaning. Another woman in Wilbarston relies upon the 67 bus to see her grandchildren and attend regular GP appointments in Corby - without the bus, she'll be left isolated or face paying £17 for a taxi each way. Northamptonshire County Council have a duty to protect the young, the elderly and other vulnerable groups - cutting these services and leaving these groups isolated, without public access to the most essential services is not right or fair.

  • Protection for Airport Passenger valuables at Security.
Airport Security scanning is recognised as an essential part of safety for passengers. It is also a ‘Mandatory’ process. All Passengers must place their valuables in multiple trays on conveyer belts and they do so trusting that their belongings will be safe in the Security Processes. It is reasonable that they should believe this, as there is no alternative and one can refuse security scans if they want to fly, and rightly so. However, this is not a voluntary process. It is enforced. Therefore, it should be mandatory that all Security staff ensure all items are protected and controlled during the whole checking process, then safely returned to their owners. Passengers do not expect their items to be at risk of theft when they place these items into the trays and into the hands of the Security staff. Nor do passengers feel they can challenge anyone if, in all too frequent situations of peak passenger flow, they suspect these items will be at risk by complying to these regulations. It is wholy unfair and unacceptable that this is happening and is causing undue stress for passengers and it is an open invitation to criminals. As seen in current media articles. These items should be safe and the current process unacceptable.

  • SOSPPAN - Save our Services at Prince Philip Hospital
If the NHS A&E moves to a new Hospital at least 50 minutes away by car or ambulance from Llanelli and if Prince Philip Hospital is down graded to a Community Hospital 100,000 people will be severely disadvantaged and some people will not be able to access the NHS services because according to Hywel Dda, they will not have enough money or a car. Losing immediate access to our Health services could cost the lives of people that you know.......or your father or mother or daughter or brother or son or sister or Mrs or Mr......this is key .....for you and for me........please sign to help prevent this.

  • Road Safety on Hampstead Lane, Highgate N6
This stretch of road is used by many pedestrians every day. Most are local parents and their children, walking to and from either Highgate School, St Michaels, Highgate Primary or Channing. However, this stretch of road is very dangerous, particularly for children. Although it is a 20mph zone, cars frequently travel much faster than this. Although there are signs indicating the speed limit along the route, they are small and relatively inconspicuous and in places obscured by foliage. Perhaps because the route used to have a 30mph limit and also because it is a main thoroughfare out of Highgate, the existing signs do not seem to make an impact on how people drive. The risk to people walking is significantly increased by the poor quality of the pavements on both sides of the road. In several places on the North side the paving or concrete is uneven (where slabs are broken or worn or where tree roots are pushing through) and the risk of tripping over (particularly for children) is high. This side is also very narrow which means that in several places it is difficult to pass people going in the other direction or even walk two-abreast with a child. Because of the narrowness of the pavement and because cars do not/may not generally park along this route, if a pedestrian trips there is nothing to protect them from falling straight into the road. There are also a number of pot holes which fill with water on wet days which can only be passed by stepping into the road. Where other roads intersect with Hampstead Lane there is often little to differentiate road from payment: markings are worn and gutters are frequently full of leaves and water. Frequently large vehicles park in driveways in such a way that pedestrians are forced to step into the road to go round them. On the south side of the road, the T-Junction where The Grove meets Hampstead Lane is difficult and dangerous to cross due to the speed at which cars pull out of the crossing and the high density of traffic (increasingly The Grove is used as a cut-through from Highgate West Hill). Many children and their parents are at risk every day because of the combination of these factors and the Councils need to act to protect pedestrians. Hampstead Lane falls far short of the vision set out in the Mayor's Healthy Streets for London strategy (a system of policies specifically designed to help Londoners use cars less and walk, cycle and use public transport more). It is has excessive levels of noise, the air is very polluted, the intersecting roads are difficult to cross and people feel unsafe on it – all factors that actively discourage people from walking or cycling along this route.

During term time the council provides 4 school crossing patrol personnel however, outside of school drop off, lunch and pick up times residents risk their lives attempting to cross Wester Cleddens Road. Furthermore, numerous housing developments have been built on and around Wester Cleddens Road which has increased traffic and the population.

  • Safety measure for pedestrians at the junction of Friern Barnet Lane and High Road (A1000)
There are 3 primary schools and a secondary school in the immediate area. There is huge pedestrian traffic in the area and crossing Friern Barnet Lane is incredibly dangerous It is unsafe to cross the road. Families are forced to walk on the road as there is no pavement on the southside of Friern Barnet Lane Encouraging children to walk to school is important not only for health but also for the environment.
