Caerphilly County Council plans to close Pontllanfraith Leisure Centre in order to gain the ‘full capital’ from the land sale, following the demolition of the old school grounds. The purpose in their proposal is: “ To seek Cabinet approval to commence the closure of Pontllanfraith Leisure Centre in conjunction with the opening of Islwyn High School and support the sale and development of the Pontllanfraith High School / Leisure Centre campus.” They claim there will be no loss of services, but in fact, quite the opposite is true. Their plans will result in a drastic loss of sporting and leisure services for residents. This in turn, will result in a LOSS OF WELL-BEING in the community, an UNHEALTHIER Wales and is utterly IRRESPONSIBLE. Their own proposal clearly highlights the following issues with the closure: - There is no other Football Association Wales approved G3 pitch in the area as the one in Ystrad Mynach is prone to flooding so is frequently unavailable. The closure will result in an end to competitive fixtures in the area. - The advance booking for the non-approved pitch in Islwyn High, is already booked with NEW teams and clubs, so the existing timetable cannot be absorbed. The closure will result in local teams and clubs having nowhere to train locally - There is no funding for a FAW approved pitch to be built at Blackwood Comprehensive and if there was, the £500,000 price tag would mean the cost of closing Pont Leisure Centre is almost double the cost of keeping it open over the next five years - The Centre’s other facilities are heavily used with everything from Zumba classes through to over 50s badminton on a weekly basis, many classes will not be able to move to Islwyn High or it may be too difficult for local residents to get there. The council should be encouraging more opportunities for sports and activity, not taking them away! In addition, other issues raised include: - Local residents who use the centre for social events such as parties, classes and other events will have to travel further and in many cases, this will be impossible. This means that opportunities for social interaction will be reduced or removed completely. Many clubs will have to close with the leisure centre - The consultation process has been extremely limited to date, therefore, the views of the community have not been properly taken into account The Council has a remit to meet the Wellbeing of Future Generation (Wales) Act 2015, which is about improving the social, economic, environmental and cultural wellbeing of Wales. It requires public bodies to think more about the long-term, working with people and communities, looking to prevent problems and take a more joined up approach. The closure of Pontllanfraith Leisure Centre in no way meets the well-being goals and we urge Caerphilly County Council to stop the closure. Please share widely.

Their upsetting deaths go unheard and their poor working conditions, long hours of labour in the blazing heat without enough breaks, are all justified by the end result of this majestic, glorious stadium. But little do we know that the the stadium is being built on a graveyard of human bodies. The World Cup workers, who are mostly migrants from neighboring countries desperate for work, are enduring potentially life-threatening heat and humidity resulting in the deaths of hundreds of dedicated workers. The temperatures are of course inevitable, but the lack of statutory breaks imposed on the workers are not. Their passports have been confiscated and they are refused exit Visa's. So of course they are left unwillingly fixated in this tormenting and grotesque cycle of work and suffering. And this form of modern slavery has been occurring for almost 7 years now. Currently over 1000 have died from "unexpected causes" that the Qatari government neither explained nor investigated further. So once again the poor families of these workers are left in the darkness with false (and in some cases no) information regarding the death of their beloved family member. We all share one commonality... We are all humans. No life is more superior to another. Therefore EVERY life is worth saving.

There are currently 7 primary schools Under the NYCC care in danger of closing. We have already lost 3. In an ideal world Ings would remain open, and the heart of the community however as this now seems futile I feel that there needs to be a full investigation into why we have got into this situation, and how we are going to prevent it happening again. I would also like it to be investigated why we are closing these schools yet allowing private developers to put in planning for two new schools in the area- both of which will be owned by an academy or free school, meaning they will no longer be under any of NYCC remit- a massive safeguarding issue

It is wrong for a political party to question the decisions of licensing officers. This is akin to rejection of the law to suit political ends rather than protection of the public or workers. This is important also because it shows an unashamed attempt to garner support from a voting section of the public. Moreover it does not represent the Local authorities inhabitants alone and cannot be proven. A political party should not be lobbying to obfuscate the work of those carrying out licensing.

This is important because the cafe has been part of all our childhood and a huge amount of people have happy memories of this cafe. LLP Properties should be held accountable to explain why they are driving out our town’s local businesses and forcing the local people out of jobs which they need to support their own families too. NLC should be doing more to help local businesses NOT helping and standing by and watching them close down. Our home town is slowly dying due to the total greed by this company’s attitude towards its residents who are trying to make a living and serve a community. Start to think about folks livelihoods NOT bank balances for your own self gain. We the people of Motherwell demand that you withdraw the outrageous hike towards our town’s businesses. We demand it NOW!

These workers rarely get the chance to enjoy a break whilst on duty, often having to leave the shop without their well earned drink/snack if they get a shout while caught up in a queue. Let's show them the respect they deserve and let them 'cut the queue', it'll only add a few minutes to your waiting time and surely it's worth it?

There is NO evidence that culling badgers makes any meaningful contribution to reducing the levels of bovine TB in cattle. The Randomised Badger Culling Trial, an 8-year, £50 million study during which 11,000 badgers were killed, produced no evidence of benefit. It found that only 1.67% of those 11,000 badgers had communicable bovine TB. The real culprits are not badgers but an outdated and inaccurate testing regime (missing 20-50% of all cases in cattle), poor biosecurity on farms, and millions of movements of cattle around the country. This year, DEFRA wants to see 33,000 badgers killed and Waitrose/Duchy have agreed to culling on their land in the west country. Two-thirds of the public are against badger culling and, as customers of Waitrose and John Lewis PLC, we call on the company to respect the science and to honour the views and feelings of their customers.

He has extended himself and worked hard prevent the reoccurring issues that we face daily In relation to health and and employee well-being. In this robust and challenging environment we as drivers feel that no other management team have successfully supported our team to such a high standard.

Dear Sir, I was at the checkout in my local coop store. In front of me was a mother with 2 young children. She was struggling with her shopping at the same time as she was subjected to a lot of pestering from her children for sweets. I looked up and saw the panel which hid the tobacco products. The government has decided that it is of benefit to our health not to be reminded of this health hazard and, no doubt, there is a lot of research showing that removing the visual stimulus reduces the consumption. We are also told of an impending crises of obesity in children. I spoke to the mother about the nuisance of having sweets placed within such easy reach of children and at a place where she could not walk away. I also spoke to the store manager who, as a mother and grandmother herself, was very sympathetic, but explained that Cadbury is paying extra to have their products displayed in just such an area because " it makes parents buy them". Coop is proud of its ethical values. Is it not time for your organisation to take a lead and put the health before profits, to forgo a little money to help struggling parents keep sugar from their children. If Uber plays by the rules, they can get their license to operate in London back and none of us lose out. Transport for London have told Uber they are not allowed to operate in London because of a “lack of corporate responsibility”. This includes not properly reporting serious crime and blocking proper regulation. On top of that, Uber drivers are not being given the rights that people in employment should get. Uber needs to give drivers the rights they deserve and comply with TFL safety requirements, rather than let 40,000 people lose their jobs.

Britain drinks 165 million cups of tea a day. Council food waste composting schemes recommend composting teabags. The plastic layer within the bag will break down when composted and has the potential to enter the food chain and damage the environment. The 2007 paper 'Microplastic—An Emerging Contaminant of Potential Concern?' Dr M Browne, T Galloway, and R Thompson states "Organisms with a range of feeding strategies can ingest and accumulate microplastics." Section 41.6.8 of SOIL ASSOCIATION ORGANIC STANDARDS (AUGUST 2016) states: To minimise the direct and indirect environmental impacts of your packaging during its life cycle, you must: minimise the amount of material used, maximise the amount of material that can be reused or recycled, and use materials with recycled content where possible. Surely where teabags can be made using a string-and-tag system, this would mean that they should be in order to meet the requirements for organic certification?
