• A590 Action for Safety - Backbarrow and Haverthwaite
    1. The pedestrian refuge at Backbarrow, although offering some protection and enables pedestrians to cross one half of the road at a time, it’s a place where people are very vulnerable with traffic roaring past at 60mph. Pedestrians are still at considerable risk of injury or death should a vehicle collide with it whilst they stand there waiting to cross. There have been at least two occasions in the past where vehicles have crashed into it, luckily no-one has been standing there at the time. 2. 60mph is far too fast, and we’re concerned that drivers are currently exceeding the national speed limit. Cameras need to be installed to enforce the new speed limit of 40 mph. 3. The pavements. particularly at Backbarrow are very narrow and pedestrians are forced to walk close to passing traffic which practically brush their shoulders, suck them in and blow them out again as they whoosh past - 60mph is far too fast. It only takes 30 seconds more to travel at 40 mph on the one mile stretch between Haverthwaite and Backbarrow. 4. The dual carriageway section at Haverthwaite is dangerous because it encourages drivers to increase their speed and take risks where there are junctions and bends to be negotiated. 5. Current lighting and signage is inadequate and drivers aren’t aware of the junctions and crossings in place. Pedestrians and drivers put their lives at risk every day. It’s time to take action and make improvements before someone else is seriously injured or killed.  We believe our proposals, are not unreasonable. 6. The community of Backbarrow are deeply saddened and angry that there’s been yet another incident recently which has cut short the life of a well liked, lovely friend and neighbour. Without the reduction in the speed limit to 40mph and the other changes we are proposing, there will be further incidents and loss of life – it’s only a matter of time.

  • Resurface pot-holed roads in Rossendale
Road access and road travel is important - spend some money on positive maintenance of the road surfaces to make leisure and business travel a safer, cheaper and more enjoyable experience. Claims against Lancashire County Council and Rossendale Borough Council due to damage to vehicles because of poorly maintained road surfaces will only increase financial pressures on councils.

  • Say No to parking charges at Lickey Hills
Lickey Hills was gifted to the people of Birmingham by the Cadbury family so workers could enjoy free access to open spaces. The government want to encourage people to exercise more a d Lickey Hills is a great place to go for walks and family outings. Imposing car park charges will discourage locals and visitors, with a negative impact on the health of the local community and minimal financial gain for the council. This policy is flawed and short sighted

  • Zebra Crossing at Hampole Way/Westwood Way, Boston Spa High Street
This junction is notoriously dangerous, and is the natural exit/entrance point both from the Church Fields development and also from the three schools on Westwood Way. Many residents have experienced "near misses" and a child from West Oaks school was struck by a moving vehicle. A zebra crossing needs to be put in place to provide a safer place for pedestrians to cross; it will also serve to punctuate the flow of traffic into the High Street and help to slow down vehicles. Please provide this crossing before there is a really terrible incident.

  • Save and improve the Lincolnshire Norfolk 505 bus route
For the young, those unable to drive and people living in quite isolated areas the 505 bus service has become a vital resource. Connecting two busy towns and a great number of small villages and hamlets this vital artery of travel is the only way day to day life can continue. Villages like Fleet, like Gedney arnt serviced by shops and pubs. With no adiquate alternative these small towns will continue to be strangled. Many teenagers in the area at one time used this service for school or for work. This service has become curtailed and trimmed to a level where it is alteady possible for these people to take their first job that would finish at 6pm or later which in turn added pressure on social support services and the wider community. Yes this route should be continued. However, as the lifeblood of our local community should it not be extended to allow our children and non driving people access to work in the major towns of the area. Sign this petition if you feel people have a right to support themselves by working and looking for self improvement opportunities. Sign this petition if you think that bus routes serve the greater community rather than the dividends of shareholders. Sign this petition if you’ve ever finished work in the daylight and still not been able to get a bus home. Actually, I can’t thknk why you wouldn’t sign this petition.

  • Save the Coasthopper Bus Service
Coasthopper bus service has operated on the Norfolk coast for twenty one years, giving vital connections to allow people to do their shopping or go out seeing friends. The service operates all year round. It must continue to operate with a new bus company not get scrapped. The coasthopper is needed. We can't lose this wonderful reliable bus service, even if Stagecoach don't realise this service is loved and people want to continue to travel on the service! Norfolk Green bus company operated the Coasthopper bus service from 1997. It was founded in 1990 by Tony Haynes. He was a gentleman and knew how to run an excellent bus service. Now after the takeover, stagecoach are proposing to withdraw the Coasthopper bus service completely, as it pulls completely out of Norfolk with the closure of the former Norfolk Green depot in Kings Lynn. This is so sad as Norfolk Green was the best bus company ever. They cared about their customers and gave the best service. So now Tony Haynes' legecy is being destroyed by Stagecoach!

  • Bus Services in Basingstoke
People need bus services that connect them and their community to vital local services like GPs or to help them get to work, to school and college. Not everyone has access to a car and many people need a decent bus service. Basingstoke deserves better public transport and better bus services.

  • Traffic safety in Ynyshir
We would all agree that the current situation regarding the speed of vehicles, the illegal parking on crossings and the lack of a safe crossing area for our children is both dangerous and unacceptable.

  • Install Pelican Crossings at dangerous junctions in Trafford
These are busy, dangerous junctions with no way of crossing safely apart from dashing across the road. These crossings are particularly dangerous for children, the elderly and people with mobility issues. It's critical that the residents of Trafford are able to cross the road in the safety, knowing the traffic has stopped. There are currently no measures for crossing at these junctions and it's a case of dashing across and risking life when the other cars are turning into the road from the other-side of the junction.

  • Lydford Road Zebra Crossing
It is very difficult for pedestrians to cross this road safely as traffic is constant and comes from 4 directions. The are a large number of families living in the area who need to cross this road every day to get so school in the Willesden Green area or to access the tube on Walm Lane. Some children walk to school by themselves and it is a very challenging road for unaccompanied children to negotiate. There have been a number of accidents involving children on Brent roads recently (including fatalities) and we don’t want to wait for another one before a safe crossing is considered.

  • Build the world's greenest venue on the site of the Earls Court Masterplan, London.
Transport for London’s (TfL) commercial development wing formed a joint venture with Capital & Counties Properties PLC to redevelop the TfL-owned site of the now-demolished Earls Court Exhibition Centre, which forms a large part of the scheme known as the Earls Court Masterplan. Mayor Khan is Chair of Transport for London. Recent press reports range from an enhanced Earls Court Masterplan being brought forward to part of it being sold to a Saudi Arabian investment and property firm. This uncertainty over the future of the site does not help residents and businesses. The West Kensington and Gibbs Green housing estates are threatened with demolition as is the Lillie Bridge depot – all for luxury flats. The destruction of the Earls Court Exhibition Centre has led to the loss of 30% of London’s and 16% of the UK’s vital exhibition space and over £1bn annually to the local and national economy. Londoners were promised that "Earl’s Court will remain the location for a large convention centre or exhibition function" in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea’s 2015 Consolidated Local Plan. Instead permission was granted last year by the Royal Borough for a 644 sq m cultural venue, like a souped up Starbucks on the site of the iconic Exhibition Centre which was 40,000 sq m! There is no step-free access from the Earl's Court tube station to the development to help those with disabilities. There is no significant destination venue in the current Earls Court Masterplan. When the Earls Court Masterplan is revised, we ask that Mayor Khan supports building the world’s greenest venue which will generate overnight stays and support the night-time economy. Profits from the venue should be used to improve London's transport network and to benefit the common good.
